Jamie A. Elson, MD

Board-certified Family Medicine Physician

A native of Santa Monica, having attending Franklin Elementary and Brentwood School, Dr. Elson is delighted to be working in her hometown.

She is a board-certified Family Medicine physician, who received her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience, at Claremont McKenna College, graduating with honors. She underwent her medical training at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where she was involved in numerous outreach programs to restore the city and rebuild the healthcare system after Hurricane Katrina. There, she founded Comfort Food, a cooking-therapy intervention for children dealing with the effects of PTSD. Upon graduation, she was awarded the Tulane University Family Medicine Excellence Award. Dr. Elson was then selected for one of the premiere Family Medicine residency positions at UCLA/Santa Monica Hospital, where she completed her medical training.

She is trained in full-scope primary care; including prenatal and obstetric care, newborn care, geriatrics and end-of-life-care. However, in her current practice, she is seeing patients only aged 12+ and up. While she does see patients for all complaints and issues, she has a specialized skill-set in Women’s Health/Gynecologic Care, Menopausal Management/Hormone-Replacement Therapy, Technology in Medicine, Urgent Care and Procedures, Adolescent Medicine, Nutrition, Exercise/Lifestyle counseling, Weight loss, Autoimmune Diseases, Lactation and Postpartum issues and in Preventative Care/Longevity/Wellness Care.

She maintains her board-certification through the American Board of Family Medicine, and is on-staff at Providence/St. John's Hospital, in Santa Monica, where she has been a member of the Physician Wellness Committee, and the Women’s Health & Wellness Institute’s Mental Health Steering Committee.

She has been repeatedly voted by her peers as a leader in her field, and awarded various honors for her work in primary care, including:

She remains deeply invested in her local community, forming a strong network with other physicians and practitioners from a myriad of healthcare associated fields in order to best serve her patients. She also co-founded Westside Women in Healthcare, which brings together independent providers from a variety of different healthcare fields to collaborate, network and learn from each other.

She also has served as an advisor for a myriad of telehealth companies, providing her expertise in making quality healthcare more accessible to everyone, and has worked as an advisory consultant to health-tech startups and other healthcare businesses.

When not working, she enjoys traveling with her family, playing tennis liveball, drinking coffee, throwing Mardi Gras beads, cooking healthy versions of her favorite recipes, and spending time outdoors enjoying the California sunshine. She also donates her time to multiple charitable organizations, and is specifically involved with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Los Angeles.
